BSG Water Bills

My thanks to the town of BSG for increasing my water bill. Make sure the town engineer fills his pockets with the extra cash. I still cant figure out why a small town such as BSG needs a "town engineer". 55.00 to 96.00, nice increase.

Sounds like you might have a leak somewhere.

In Wise, it's not the water bill that's so bad, it's the sewer bill which is 125% of the water bill. I think they imposed that big of a charge a few years back when they completed the big sewage station in Coeburn.

Maybe retiredteach can enlighten us.

Someone has to pay for all that water leaking from the transmission lines in BSG. If memory serves, they can only account for about 40% of the water they treat (number might be a bit off).

As for sewer bills, just be glad you aren't an out-of-town customer in Norton. Again, if memory serves, they pay around 150-175% of their water bill.

It just costs more money to clean it up after you've dirtied it up. Throw in the increased cost of business due to gas prices and all that involves. Infrastructure isn't cheap.

My bill went from $56 to $82. That's an increase of $26. The claim was that the average increase would be about $15. Spoke with another person (a postman) who lives in B.S.G. He saw an increase a bit larger than my $26 one.

I think we have been lied to....period. After being shafted that is....

Norton (from the back of my bill):

outside of city limits sewer is 200% of the water bill.
inside city limits its 150% of the water bill.

water is $11.80 for 2000, $3 per additional 1000 for in-limits.
water is $17.70 for 2000, $6 per additionl 1000 for outside-city-limits.

add $10 for trash pick up
add $5-7 for "improvement" (not sure why that varies each month)

bsg wuz in bad shape....cryed to the state....got that stuff...now lettin it rot away

stuff bought with taxpayer $$$$$$....goes to show ya what they think of ya and youre pocketbook....

Mr. Polly and his ilk have controlled things for years. It's the good ol' boy system. Bobby Lane is the contracted town engineer...the town of BSG doesn't have an engineer per say. And he is paid (or at least his company) about 1 quarter million dollars per year. Why can't they hire a good, young civil enegineer for $60,000 or so per year? Polly has no discipline, and as long as he has enough votes, he gets what he wants. BSG's best days will begin when Polly and his henchhmen are removed from council.

In fact the same basic philosophy and in many cases the same families have controlled BSG since it's early days when it was formed as a central location for operations aimed at stealing properties and wealth from the locals and placing the local population into what amounted to a form of serfdom by members of the northern elite.
